LED Aluminum Trim - 72" Strip
LED Aluminum Trim - 72" Strip
NOTE:
Our trim is sold in 6 foot long lengths, and is considered an oversized package that has a higher shipping rate than smaller boxes. In October 2024, UPS has increased their oversized package surcharge by almost $30.00 on their ground packages.
Consider choosing "USPS Ground Advantage," which is the post offices ground package service, as it should be much cheaper than UPS.
Our trim can also be shipped by UPS Next Day Air, but the oversize surcharge for UPS Next Day Air has also increased quite a bit. If you want to have some of our aluminum trim shipped Next Day Air, please call us! We will give you the exact quote over the phone, to make sure the rates are correct and current.
Our extruded aluminum trim is a great way to add some metal trim to your custom interior! Our LED Aluminum Trim matches the look of our Bullnose Aluminum Trim, and the LED lights are completely hidden when installed with the LEDs facing down.
Our LED Aluminum Trim is sold as a do-it-yourself kit. Each 72" strip of aluminum comes with two strips of LEDs that are 36" long each. This allows you to fill the entire strip of aluminum with lights. The aluminum trim can be easily cut and shaped, and the LED strips can be cut as well. The LED strips have wires on both ends, so you could cut the LED strips into up to four separate pieces, per piece of trim. We use an aluminum alloy, 3003, that is easy to bend to bend and shape. The trim comes in the raw extruded finish. It is easy to polish for a shiny finish, or you can give it a brushed look with an abrasive pad. The trim has blunt ends, but the ends are easy to shape with a 3" angle grinder. We recommend bending, shaping, and polishing the aluminum trim to the desired shape first. After you have the desired shape of the trim and are ready to install, clean the groove with alcohol, then install the peel-n-stick LED light strip. We recommend brushing a small amount of adhesive into the groove on the trim, to help with the adhesion of the LED strip. As noted below, the LED light strips can be cut to length. The LEDs operate at 12 volts. Due to their very small size, these LEDs cannot be dimmed. The LED strips are not water resistant.
We recommend drilling a blind hole on the back of the trim using a 3/32" drill bit and using a blunt tip #4 sheet metal screw to attach them to your custom panel. Being a softer grade of aluminum, the trim only needs to be drilled, it does not need to be tapped. The sheet metal screws will "bite" into the aluminum trim, without deforming the trim.
We also sell packs of the #4 sheet metal screws, and a drilling fixture that helps you drill a hole in the center of the trim.
Right now, we only sell this trim in 72" long strips. Much longer than that, and the shipping gets VERY expensive! The trim can be tig welded together if you need longer pieces.
