What the heck is brushing? These brushing strips can be used to dress up slots and gaps in panels. Building a custom center console with a slot for a shifter? Custom trunk panel that has slots cut in it for the trunk lid hinges? Our brushing can be mounted on the backside of your panel or console, and it will conform around the shifter or trunk hinges to allow them to operate as necessary, while also visually blocking what is behind the panel or console.
Our Brushing is sold in 18" long strips. You receive the brushing whisker strip, and a "holder" sleeve that the brushing whiskers slips into. The holder
The "holder" for our Brushing strips is made from TPR rubber that is very flexible. This makes mounting the Brushing very easy, and it will conform to any curves that your panel may have.
Mounting tips and tricks: The brushing strips can be stapled, screwed or glued! CA glue/cyanoacrylate glue has a really good bond to the TPR rubber holder. We recommend scuffing up the side of the rubber holder that you would be gluing with 80-120 grit sandpaper and cleaning with alcohol before applying the CA glue. While the CA glue will bond really well to the brushing strip holder, make sure the panel you are gluing it to will also hold a strong bond with CA glue. From experience, we feel that CA glue is compatible with wood panels, hardboard upholstery panel board, PVC and ABS plastic, but always check the label for the glue you are using. Would you rather use a mechanical faster? The holder can also be stapled to your panel, or screwed down, just be careful not to drive the staple or screw all the way through the holder!
